What is showdown.space?

showdown.space hosts community events in the form of recreational tech contests.

Are the events free?

All of our events are free and open to everyone.

Where do events take place?

Some events will be virtual and some will be in-person.

What types of events does showdown.space host?

Initially geared towards developers, our first few events will focus on programming, with themes ranging from frontend development to coding competitions to automation challenges. However, we may expand in the future to include other types of events.

What are the goals of the events?

Our main goal is simply for tech folks to have fun together while learning new things. As such, the emphasis is on knowledge sharing rather than finding who will be the best or winning prizes.

In addition to providing a fun and engaging way for people to connect with others who share their interests, showdown.space also aims to attempt to solve the problem of talent recruitment — after each event, the event information and rankings are published as publicly-available data.

Participants can opt to include their GitHub profile in the ranking page, which can be used as a recruitment tool. Sponsors can also contribute to the event and be recognized by the community.

How can I participate?

You can participate in our virtual events by joining our Discord community, where you can come and meet other tech folks and chat about the events. When there are in-person events, we will also announce them on Discord.

We will also use Discord for user profile management in both virtual and in-person events, so make sure to join!
